Touring Charleston South Carolina - FAQ
Reservations Required: 1-800-729-3420
Q...Where do we meet our guide/pick up our tickets?

A...All tours meet from 45 South Market Street (Market & State Streets). Please arrive and check in fifteen minutes before your tour.

Q...Where can we park?

A...Although there is metered parking along Market Street, it is best to use one of the parking garages that are located within a short tour of our ticket office. The best garage is located at 90 Cumberland Street (just off of Meeting Street). See and print the map for easy reference.

Q...How much advance notice is sufficient for my reservation?

A...Although it is often possible to make a reservation within a day of tour that you would like to take, it is advisable to plan ahead if you would like to tour on Weekends and/or during our high season (March 21st - November 1st).

Q...What is your cancellation policy?

A...You may cancel your reservation at any time for any reason with a minimum of two hours notice. Just call our office and our receptionist will be glad to assist you.

Q...What if it rains?

A...All tours will go rain or shine unless there is severe lightening. Please call our office if you have concerns about the weather and you would like to confirm that your tour will take place as planned.

Q...Do you guarantee the quality of your tours and customer satisfaction?

A...At Charleston Walks we make every effort to provide our customers with an experience that is highly entertaining and informative. If for any reason you are not satisfied with our services, please call our office for a full refund. Although your guide certainly will honor your request on the spot, it is most important that our management hears every customer's frank opinion of our services.

Q...Should I tip my guide after the tour?

A...It is customary to offer your guide a small tip if you are pleased with the quality of your tour and you would like to express your gratitude for a job well done!

Q...Do you provide senior citizen, student, military, or AAA discounts?

A..Yes. All of the above will receive a $2 per person discount with proper identification.

Q...Is a walking tour the best way to see Charleston considering that it would seem like touring by van or carriage would allow me to see much more?

A...A walking tour is definitely the way the savvy travelers tour Charleston because of the fact that the guides are generally superior in both knowledge and presentation, as well as the fact that touring by foot allows one to see the Historic District up close. As anyone who has visited Charleston before will tell you, the beauty here is in the details.

Q...Are there restrooms along the way?

A...The City of Charleston currently does not offer many public restrooms in the Historic District, and it is advisable to take this into consideration before beginning your touring tour. Our patrons are always welcome to use the facilities at our Ticket Office while in Charleston.

Q...Can people with wheelchairs or strollers go on these tours?

A...Yes.

Q...Should I bring anything along for the tour?

A...Water during the Summer. Bug spray in the evening during warm months. And a camera any time!

Q...What makes each tour a uniquely different tour experience?

A...Content. Although most of our touring tours take routes through the same general area of the city, it is the topic being presented that makes each of our tours so special. And though one may see a few familiar sights along the way, we are confident that you will see many new and interesting features of Charleston on every tour.

Q...How many people are usually on each tour?

A...Fifteen is the average on our most popular tours, though many tours will have as few as four to eight participants.

A...Yes, except on Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.

Q...How long do the tours last and are they strenuous?

A... Most tours last approximately 90 minutes and cover 1.5 miles. The Historic Homes tour is the only exception and lasts approximately two and a half hours and covers the same distance. All tours enjoy frequent stops along the way.
